Arabic vocabulary
How to say “sons” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
خَمْسَةُ ذُكُورٍ وَخَمْسُ إِنَاثٍ،
Five sons and five daughters.
ذُكُورٍ — sons. The counted noun after 'five', a plural for male children in the after-a-number ('of') case — 'five of sons'. Numbers three to ten take this plural-and-genitive pattern, and the noun's masculine gender is what flipped the numeral's form.
