How to say “the Conquest” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
عَامَ الْفَتْحِ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ قُرَيْشًا،
It was the Year of the Conquest, and that news reached the Quraysh.
الْفَتْحِ — the Conquest. This is the owner half of 'the year of the Conquest'. It carries the definite 'the' and takes the genitive '-i' ending, which is the signal that it owns the noun in front of it; together the two nouns form a single dated label with no separate word for 'of'.
