How to say “the day” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمَّا انْسَلَخَ نَهَارُ وُجُودِهِمْ
When the day of their presence drew to a close.
نَهَارُ — the day. The subject following its verb, and at the same time the head of a possessive pairing with the noun after it. As the first half of 'the day of X' it leaves off its own 'the' and draws definiteness from the owner that follows.
