Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the enamored” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
يُقَالُ تَيِّمُ اللَّهِ أَيُّ عَبْدٌ لِلَّهِ فَالْمُتَيِّمُ الْمُعَبَّدُ لِمَحْبُوبِهِ
It is said, 'Enamored of God,' that is, 'servant of God.' So the enamored becomes a worshipper for his beloved.
فَالْمُتَيِّمُ — so the enamored. The fa- here draws a conclusion, signaling that what follows is the upshot of the definition just given. The al- on the noun then makes it the specific, defined figure under discussion. So the prefix ties the result to the argument while the article pins down exactly whom it is about.
