Arabic vocabulary
How to say “then argued” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ فَحَاجَ آدَمُ مُوسَى
He said: Adam disputed with Moses.
فَحَجٌّ — then argued. The fa- here means 'so/then', marking the upshot, and fronts a past-tense verb meaning prevailed-in-argument. The vocalization fixes it as a verb of disputing rather than the unrelated noun it could resemble. The prefix orders this as the result of the exchange.
