How to say “thought” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فكرةٌ كانت تختبئ،
A thought that was hiding,
فِكْرَةٌ — a thought. 'a thought / idea,' indefinite (the -un) — the first of the three calm 'features' that surface when noise clears. It stands as a heading; the clause after describes it: one that had been hiding.
From: Guarding Your Attention →خَطَرَتْ لِيْ فِكْرَةٌ
An idea occurred to me.
فِكْرَةٌ — an idea. A feminine noun standing as the postponed subject of the verb before it, which is why it takes the doer-style nominative ending. Its feminine gender is what dictated the feminine shape of that verb; left indefinite, it presents the idea as one that newly arose.
