Arabic vocabulary
How to say “to give away / to squander” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَبَذَلَ دِينَهُ لِشَيْطَانِهِ ،
And he abandoned his religion to his devil,
وَبَذْلٍ — and he abandoned. The opening 'wa-' coordinates this clause with the surrounding chain of consequences. The core is a verbal noun, the name of an action used in place of a finished verb, which is a common Arabic way of stringing events together compactly, here continuing the run of things the man did.
