Arabic vocabulary
How to say “ugliness” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وقبيحه قبيح وهو الأغلب،
And its ugliness is ugly, and it is predominant,
وَقَبِيحُهُ — and its ugliness. Parallel to the earlier 'its good', this is 'and the bad/ugly of it', with attached 'its' looping back to poetry. It is the subject of the verbless clause to follow. The structure deliberately mirrors the previous line to set up a contrast.
From: Sincere Preaching →وقبيحه قبيح وهو الأغلب،
And its ugliness is ugly, and it is predominant,
قَبِيحٌ — is ugly. The predicate, echoing the root of its subject: 'its ugly is ugly'. Like its twin earlier, the repetition drives the point home. No 'is' is written; the two nouns sitting together carry it.
