Arabic vocabulary
How to say “was taken away” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وربما سُلِبَ التَّوْحِيدُ ،
And perhaps the belief in God's oneness will be taken away.
سُلِبَ — was taken away. This is the passive form of the verb: the subject undergoes the action rather than performing it, so belief is what gets stripped, by some unnamed agent. Arabic adds no helper word like 'was'; it signals the passive purely by reshaping the inner vowels of the verb, which is why it looks close to its active twin but reverses the roles.
