Arabic vocabulary
How to say “accursed one” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقُلْتُ يَا مَشْؤُومُ،
And I said, "O accursed one,"
مَشْؤُومُ — accursed one. This is the noun being hailed after the call-particle, an insult used as a form of address ('you ill-omened one'). As a vocative it takes the form Arabic gives words called out to, and it has no 'the': the call-particle has already singled it out. It is hurled directly at the dream-teller.
