How to say “afflict” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فلاومه الخزي واللعن سجيس عجيس
So disgrace and curse are intertwined continuously with him.
فَلَاوَمَهُ — so [it] afflicted him. The fused front letter marks a 'so/then' result. The rest is a past-tense verb carrying its own subject and with 'him' fused to its end as the object, so one word means 'so it afflicted him', the 'him' pointing back to the cursed figure of the passage.
