How to say “al-Qassab” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمَّا وُلِّيَ الْوِزَارَةُ ابْنُ الْقَصَّابِ
When Ibn al-Qassab was appointed to the ministry.
القَّصَّابِ — al-Qassab. A 'belonging-to' surname completing the byname as the owner of the 'son of …' pair; in the genitive as the second member, it lends definiteness back to 'son'. Its literal sense ('butcher') survives only as a family label here.
