Arabic vocabulary
How to say “and by the shouting” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَبِالْصِّيَاحِ عَوَّلُوا عَلَيْنَا
And they cried out at us.
وَبِالْصِّيَاحِ — and by the shouting. Three pieces stack here: wa- 'and' opening the line, the preposition bi- meaning 'by/with', and al- making the following noun definite. The bi- sets up a means relationship, by the shouting, and governs the noun into the genitive, so the word links the line and names the instrument at once.
