Arabic vocabulary
How to say “cried out” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَبِالْصِّيَاحِ عَوَّلُوا عَلَيْنَا
And they cried out at us.
عَوَّلُوا — they cried out. A finished-action verb for a plural subject, 'they', the doers carried inside the ending; the middle root letter is doubled, a sign of an intensive form. The plural subject and the past shape together report what the others did with that shouting.
