Arabic vocabulary
How to say “and not” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلا طَلْقَةَ مِنْ طَلْقَاتِهَا
Not even a single pronouncement of divorce from her.
وَلا — not even. The connector wa- ('and') joined to the negator la, together emphasizing the denial — 'and not even'. The pairing scales the negation up, insisting that not a single instance occurred. It links back to the previous refusal and intensifies it rather than merely adding a new clause.
