She answered me with a curt reply.
فَأَجَابَتْنِي — So she answered me. The prefixed fa- moves the story on, 'and so she answered me', tying her reply to his call. The verb is past tense with the -at 'she' and an attached '-ni' (me) object, three pieces in one word. The connective frames the answer as the direct response to his summons.
