How to say “benefit” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
إِلَّا أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَنْتَفِعْ بِنَصِيحَةِ وَالِدِهِ،
However, he did not benefit from his father's advice.
يَنْتَفِعْ — benefit. This verb looks present but is locked into a clipped (jussive) ending by the negator just before it, which is why it reads as a completed 'did not benefit'. The shortened ending is the visible trace of that governing particle. The 'from' sense of the benefiting is supplied by the preposition that follows, not by this verb.
