Arabic vocabulary
How to say “blink of an eye” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَمُرُّ كَالْطَرْفِ،
And among them are those who pass by like the blink of an eye,
كَالْطَرْفِ — like the blink of an eye. The comparison particle ka- ('like') fused with the definite noun for a blink/glance, forming a simile of an instant. The ka- sets up the likeness and forces the noun into the genitive ending. The al- blends in sound into the next consonant, a normal assimilation not shown in writing.
