Arabic vocabulary
صَوْمَعَة is how you say “cell” in Arabic. Hear it pronounced and see it used in a real example sentence from classical texts below.
وَكَانَ جُرَيْجٌ فِي صَوْمَعَتِهِ،
And Jurayj was in his cell.
صَوْمَعَتِهِ — cell of him. The noun governed by 'in', wearing the genitive ending the preposition demands, and with '-hi' (his) glued on the end. So it is at once the place named by the preposition and a possessed thing -- 'in his cell'.
