Then the cave was sealed over them.
فَسَدَّتْ — then it closed. A past-tense verb whose ending marks a feminine 'it' subject, fronted by fa-. The fa- advances the narration, and the feminine ending agrees with the earlier feminine noun, the rock, as the thing that sealed the cave.
