Arabic vocabulary
How to say “companion” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهُوَ ضجيعه فِي الرمس
And he is his companion in the grave.
ضَجِيعُهُ — his companion. The 'his' here is not a separate word but a suffix welded onto the end of the noun, so one Arabic word carries both 'companion' and its owner. Tracking that owner matters: the suffix reaches back to the man being praised, not to the nearest name.
