How to say “covered” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أرسل طوفان الفتن فغطى البحار الزخر،
He sent a flood of trials that covered the roaring seas,
فَغَطَّى — so it covered. The fused front letter marks a 'so/then' consequence flowing from the sending. The rest is a past-tense verb with its built-in 'it' subject, so the flood becomes the doer of this covering, presented as the immediate result of being sent.
