وَيَرَوْنَ وَأْدَ الْبَنَاتِ وَيَمْنَعُونَهُنَّ الْمِيرَاثَ
And they practiced burying daughters alive and denied them inheritance.
الْبَنَاتِ — the daughters. The owner-noun in the genitive shape completing the possessive pairing 'the burying of the daughters'. The second noun in such a side-by-side pair takes the genitive ending and supplies the whole phrase its definiteness.
