وَالْجُزْعُ قَرِينُ الْعَجْزِ وَشَقِيقِهِ
And despair is the companion and the brother of weakness.
وَالْجُزْعُ — and the despair. wa- opens a verbless definition, marking 'the despair' as the definite subject. The conjunction ties this onto the prior contrast, and the al- names the known state being characterized.
