Arabic vocabulary
How to say “direct speech” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَلَّمَهُ تَكْلِيمًا ـ
And He spoke to him directly.
تَكْلِيمًا — directly. A noun in the object form used adverbially to underline the verb before it, an emphasis-noun echoing the verb's own root to mean 'a real speaking', so the speech was genuine and direct. This is Arabic's way of intensifying a verb by pairing it with a matching noun, here stressing the directness of the address.
