Arabic vocabulary
How to say “envelop” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَغَشِيَتْهُمْ الرَّحْمَةُ،
and mercy envelops them,
وَغَشِيَتْهُمُ — and envelops them. The verb wears a feminine ending (-at) that agrees with its doer, 'mercy,' even though that doer is only named afterward — Arabic regularly puts the verb first and shapes it to match the noun coming next. The 'them' is fastened onto the end as the receiver, so one word holds verb, agreement, and object together.
