Arabic vocabulary
How to say “evil” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَكَانَ عَاقًّا سَيِّئًا الْطِّبَاعِ،
He was disobedient and of bad character.
سَيِّئًا — bad. A describing word that heads a tight pairing with the noun after it, meaning 'bad of ...'; on its own it is incomplete and waits for that noun. Its accusative ending continues the 'he was ...' frame from the verb two words back. So it is both a complement of 'was' and the opener of a quality phrase.
