وَقَدْ تَجَاوَزَ عَدَدُ مُؤَلَّفَاتِهِ أَرْبَعَ مِئَةٍ كِتَابٍ
The number of his authored works exceeded four hundred books.
تَجَاوَزَ — it exceeded. A past-tense verb, 'exceeded/surpassed', with its 'it' subject built in; the named subject follows because Arabic puts the verb first. It governs the count that follows as the thing surpassed.
