Arabic vocabulary
How to say “for him” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَعَجِبْنَا لَهُ يَسْأَلُهُ وَيُصَدِّقُهُ
We were astonished that he asked him and then affirmed him!
لَهُ — at him. A preposition 'at/regarding' fused with an attached '-him', one word doing the work of two. With this verb of wonder the preposition marks what the marvelling is directed at, here the questioner. Arabic regularly attaches such object pronouns to the end of a preposition.
