Arabic vocabulary
How to say “give birth” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَمْكَنَتْهُ مِنْ نَفْسِهَا فَوَلَدَتْ غُلَامًا،
She allowed him access to her and gave birth to a boy.
فَوَلَدَتْ — so she gave birth. The fa- here means 'and so, as a result' -- the pregnancy follows from the union -- and the verb's '-at' keeps the doer feminine, 'she gave birth'. It marks consequence, not just sequence.
