How to say “guests” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ وَأَهْلُ الصُّفَّةِ أَضْيَافُ الإِسْلَامِ،
He said, "The People of the Suffah are guests of Islam."
أَضْيَافُ — are guests. The plural noun 'guests', here the predicate telling what the People of the Suffah are; it is the first half of a 'guests of Islam' pairing. Arabic equates subject and predicate with no verb 'are', so the bare noun does the work. It stands in the subject/predicate form.
