How to say “having/possessing” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
اللَّيَالِيَ ذَوَاتِ الْعَدَدِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ،
For several nights before he returned to his family,
ذَوَاتِ — possessing. A 'possessing/having' word that heads an 'of' pairing with the noun after it, building 'nights having a number', i.e. several. It links the nights to a count, and as the first link it leans on the following noun for its sense.
