Arabic vocabulary
How to say “his own self” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَنَّتْهُ نَفْسُهُ أَبْيَنَ الْمُحَالِ
And his own self made the impossible appear more clearly to him.
نَفْسُهُ — his own self. A noun with -hu ('his') fused on as owner, 'his own self', the subject of the verb just before it and the reason it took the feminine ending. The reflexive twist, the self deluding its owner, is the point: his deceiver is his own soul.
