Arabic vocabulary
How to say “I rose” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَتْ فَقُمْتُ لَيْلَةً أُصَلِّي،
She said, "I rose one night to pray,"
فَقُمْتُ — then I rose. A connector fa- ('then') fused to the past verb 'I rose', with the first-person 'I' in its -tu ending. The fa- marks this as the next step in her account. Connector, verb, and subject sit together in one written word.
