How to say “is prevented” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ويمتنع من مس المصحف
And he is prevented from touching the Quran.
وَيَمْتَنِعُ — and he is prevented. A verb that means to be held back or to abstain — here 'he is barred.' Joined by 'and,' it adds a limit to the freedom just granted: hearing is open to him, but touching is not.
