How to say “joy” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِلَّهِ أَشَدُّ فَرَحًا بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ
For God is more joyful in the repentance of His servant
فَرَحًا — joy. This indefinite noun is an accusative of specification: it answers 'more intense in what?' with 'in joy'. Arabic uses this accusative slot, marked by the tail ending plus the indefinite 'n' sound, to pin down the respect in which a comparison holds, a role English fills with a phrase like 'in/of joy'.
