Arabic vocabulary
How to say “killed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَسَبْعِينَ قَتِيلًا،
And seventy were killed.
قَتِيلًا — killed ones. A noun 'slain one' kept singular as the counted item after the number, carrying the indefinite object-style ending such counts take. English turns it plural 'killed', but the Arabic literally counts 'seventy of a slain one'.
