How to say “know” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَمْ تَدْرِ مِنْ أَيِّ الْمُحَلِّينَ تَنْزِلُ؟
And she did not know from which of the places it would come down.
تَدْرِ — know. A present-shaped verb of knowing, clipped into the short form the preceding negator forces, with its meaning thrown into the past to give 'did not know'. Its feminine 'she/it' subject is built in, agreeing with the eye. So it reports the eye's past ignorance.
