Arabic vocabulary
How to say “knowledgeable” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
القلب عارف، والقواطع كثيرة
The heart is knowledgeable, and the obstacles are many.
عارِفٌ — knowledgeable. This is the predicate of the verbless sentence, an active participle meaning 'knowing', so it stands in the subject case to match 'the heart'. Without 'the' it is indefinite; the no-verb structure supplies 'is' silently.
