Arabic vocabulary
How to say “lawful” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَمِنْ حَلالُ كَانَ أَمْ مِنْ حَرَامٍ؟
Was it lawful, or was it from something forbidden?
حَلالُ — lawful. A noun naming the first of the two contrasted sources, the 'lawful' one. It serves as the predicate completing the 'was it from the lawful...' question opened just before, and it stands against the 'forbidden' option introduced after the 'or'. The two together frame the moral either/or being posed.
