Arabic vocabulary
How to say “measure” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَقَالَ قِيسُوا مَا بَيْنَ الْأَرْضَيْنِ
He said, "Measure what is between the two lands."
قِيسُوا — Measure. This is a command (imperative) verb aimed at a group, with the plural 'you' addressee shown by its ending. Arabic builds the order directly into the verb's shape rather than adding a word like 'please' or 'do', so the form itself tells you it is an instruction to several people.
