Arabic vocabulary
How to say “mount” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَعَلْفُ رَاحِلَتَيْنِ كَانَتَا عِنْدَهُ
And the fodder for two mounts was with him.
رَاحِلَتَيْنِ — two mounts. This is the dual, Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' form, folded into the noun's ending instead of an added word like English 'two'. It is also the owning half of the 'fodder of ...' pair, so the dual ending here doubles as its genitive shape; the count is carried by the word's shape.
