Arabic vocabulary
How to say “my presence” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وقتل بوجودي حسادي ولا درك،
And He destroyed my enviers by my existence, with no blame upon me.
بِوُجُودِي — by my presence. The attached bi- here marks cause or instrument: it sets up 'by means of' my existence. A preposition like this forces the following noun into the form Arabic uses after prepositions, and the trailing -i fastens 'my' directly onto the noun rather than using a separate possessive word. So one short Arabic word carries the whole idea 'by my existence'.
