How to say “oaf” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قُلْتَ لِي يَا أَحْمَقُ وَلَوْ قُلْتَ لِي يَا أَرْعَنُ كَانَ أَسْهَلُ عَلَيَّ
You said to me, "You fool." If you had said to me, "You oaf," it would have been easier for me.
أَرْعَنُ — oaf. A noun used as a term of address after the call-particle, the milder insult in the supposed alternative. Following the call-particle it serves as the one addressed. It is the imagined gentler rebuke.
