وَالصَّبْرُ قَرِينُ الْكَيِّسِ وَمَادَّتُهُ
Patience is the companion of the prudent and his very substance.
الْكَيِّسِ — the prudent. A definite noun ('the prudent') as the owner half of the chain ('companion of the prudent'), in the genitive. Its 'the' fixes the pairing, naming whom patience accompanies.
