How to say “reading” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَا أَشْبَعَ مِنْ مُطَالَعَةِ الْكُتُبِ،
And reading books did not satisfy me.
مُطَالَعَةِ — reading. An action noun, a verb turned into a noun naming the act of 'reading/studying'. Because a preposition can only govern a noun, the action is packaged this way to sit in the genitive after 'from'. It then heads its own 'of' link to the books that follow.
