How to say “reason” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مَبْخُوسٌ حَظُّهُ مِنَ الْمَعْقُولِ،
He is diminished; his share of reason is small.
الْمَعْقُولِ — reason. A definite noun in the genitive because the preceding 'of' governs it. It names the domain, reason, in which the man's portion is said to be small. Carrying 'the', it points to reason as a known faculty rather than a vague idea.
