How to say “remainder” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَقَدْ بَقِيَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ بَقِيَّةٌ
And part of the night still remained.
بَقِيَّة — a remainder. This is the delayed subject of the verb 'remained' at the head of the sentence. It carries no 'al-', so it is indefinite ('a remainder'), and the indefinite ending signals new, unspecified information: an unmeasured leftover stretch of night still in play.
