How to say “revere” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَأَجْلَلْتُمُ النَّاسَ وَلَمْ تُجِلُّونِي،
You revered people and did not revere Me,
وَأَجْلَلْتُمُ — and you revered. The connector 'and' joined to a past-tense verb, 'you revered / held in honour', with a plural 'you' subject in its ending. The plural rides the verb itself.
From: Turned Away at the Gate →وَأَجْلَلْتُمُ النَّاسَ وَلَمْ تُجِلُّونِي،
You revered people and did not revere Me,
تُجِلُّونِي — revere Me. A present-shaped verb pulled into the past and chopped into its jussive ending by the 'did not' before it, with a plural 'you' subject and 'Me' attached as object: 'you revered Me'. The trimmed ending marks the negation trigger.
