Arabic vocabulary
How to say “rooted” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَمَا كَانَ مَوْضُوعًا فِي أَصْلِ الْجَوْهَرِ،
and whatever is rooted in the very essence,
مَوْضُوعًا — rooted. This is a passive participle, naming the thing as having had the action done TO it rather than performing it, like English 'placed/rooted'. It stands as the predicate of the preceding 'was', so it carries the accusative ending that verb demands. Together they say something was put in place, with no doer named.
